A New Year Upon US

Image
This past year was quite a doozy! Love, loss, laughter (cause I try my hardest not to cry over this nonsense) found their way to our door. The nonsense that has surrounded Neene this past year had really set quite a scene. I don't know about you... But I am more than done with 2021! See ya! Scat! Get OOUUUUUTTTT! Trying to set the right frame of mind as 2022 approaches. Trying to find appreciation for what we have. Setting an intention of love and light not darkness and worry. I will continue to take all the precautions that I FEEL ARE NECESSARY to protect my loved ones. You don't feel the need? You do you. Just know I'll be staying over here in my little bubble. I'll have an iced coffee in one hand, a donut in the other, my cell phone near me, my husband next to me on the other end of the couch, and a carb or two or three before us. Find your joy this year! Sparkle, shine! Do you as you see fit to do! Ready to say, "Hello 2022!" Set up this table for us to e...

Table Set At Moms

Image
The other day I also setup the table at my Mom's. Not bad for easy setup and only spending three dollars. It was a Dollar Tree one dollar foam pumpkin as the centerpiece. And I used two tablecloths that were each $1. When I put the first tablecloth down you couldn't really see the pattern. It was designed to be on the sides that overhang the table. Well I took the second one (should have gone on the round table in the living room but I made a quick thinking change). I folded it like a runner so that you could see the lovely pumpkins and sunflowers. Then placed that along the middle of the dining room table. It looks like a runner or perhaps part of the an all in one tablecloth. I paired it with the battery operated candles I got her last year. Not bad for three dollars to decorate the dining room for the Season. Remember to think outside the box or package.

Socially Distanced Halloween

Image
Here is the most recent festivities that we hosted - Halloween. Everyone's lives are so busy so we didn't have many visitors. But we were ready. Everything was individually wrapped to avoid the spread of anything but fun and joy. Mother Nature must like Halloween too. The weather held until about 6:00 just as my husband started to clean things up and carry things back inside. I ordered individual packets of mustard, mayo, and ketchup online. I wanted things that wouldn't require refrigeration after 2 hours. So we had individual hummus cups and pretzels. There were Uncrustables sandwiches. There were cupcakes wrapped in individual party cups. Speaking of cups - how cute were these drinking cups that I wrapped up with a covered straw for each guest. We had bags of pre-cut apple slices and individual caramel cups. I made a big carafe of apple cider and the husband picked up a "Box of Joe" from Dunkin for us. All in all we were prepared to keep everyone safe and yet ...

Welcome to I Should Be Resting

I've been thinking about starting a new blog for awhile. I had https://feteavecmoi.blogspot.com/ but I can't figure out how to sign back into it. I've tried everyone of the multiple versions of me (personal, work, professional, etc) but no luck. With COVID times, I lost some of my oomph for decorating. But as time moves on and things slowly begin to turn back to "normal", I think I'm ready to share my decor process and ideas again. I do enjoy making things nicer for others. Spreading joy is important. For the third time this week I uttered the words, "I Should Be Resting but..." It finally sparked the idea - "Hey, that would be a good name for a blog." So here I am. I hope you agree.
